DHAKA: Law enforcing agencies have taken all out security measures in city on Wednesday centering protest demonstration of Jamaat-e-Isalmi and Chhatra Shibir to thwart any unwarranted incident.
Security measures and vigilance in the capital have been beefed up, sources concerned said.
Additional police-RAB members are on duty in the different points of the capital. Apart from metropolitan police, district level police members are seen in different spot. Several thousands personnel of intelligence agencies have been deployed here.
Contacted, Additional Commissioner of the police Abdul Jalil told banglanews, “All out security measures have been taken in city.”
Police were directed to keep on high alert to thwart attack on them by Jamaat-Shibir, he added.
Additional contingent of police have been deployed in city’s Uttara, Khilket, Gabtoli, Shymali, Mohakhali, Satrasta, Tejgaon, Rampura, Badda, Mouchak, Mirpur, Motijheel, Dainik Bagla Intersection, Paltan, High Court Intersection, Magbazaar, Malibag, Farmgate, Dhaka University and Jatrabari areas.
Banani police station OC Bhuiyan Mahbub Hussein who was on duty in Mohakhali told banglanews, “Adequate security mesures have been taken in the area as Jamaat men launched attack on police and vandalized vehicles here in recent times in the name of sudden procession.
Tejgaon police station OC Apurbo Hasan told banglanews, “We took tight security actions dividing the Tejgaon area in several zones.
Demra Zone assistant police commissioner Minhazul Islam told banglanews, “Highest security measures have been taken in four to five risky spots in the area.”
