BENAPOLE: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held 55 people, including women and children, while they were trying to trespass into India through Benapole border.
Some of the detainees were identified as Merry Lala, 32, Meher Biswas, 28, Tripti Biswas, Trisha, 4, Am Ballab, 18, Atul Bhaumik, 60, Atul Chandra, 70, Amrit Chandra Rai, 40, Tithi, 2, Swapan Mallik, 50, Animesh Biswas, 45, Mintu Biswas, 35, Onal Das, 40, Kanika Das, 35, Bipul Chandra Biswas, 48, Shubrata Biswas, 23, Jatin Sarkar, 30, Chitra Rahnjan Mandal, 60, Abhijeet Biswas, 20, Pratap Biswas, 13, Amit Biswas, 30, Swapan Kumar, 45, Biswajit Barua, 16, Chandan Biswas, 25, Rashid, 30, Maridul, 34, Anisur Rahman, 28, Rabiul, 35, Billal, 31, Enat Ali, 40, Masud, 30, Ramesa, 24, Arab Ali, 25, Ramesa, 20, Rokeya, 27, Akkel Ali, 25, Aklima, 23, Aisha, 24, Ambia, 23, Fatema, 20, Titu, 2, Kulsum, 18, and Tumpa, 6. They are the inhabitants of Jessore, Satkhira, Narail, Khulna, Bagerhat, Faridpur and Gopalganj districts.
Jessore-26 Battalion Benapole Sadar BGB Camp Subedar Rafiqul Islam told banglanews, “Acting on tip off, we held them in a drive from Monday night till Tuesday afternoon from different places in Benapole border area.”
Later, they were handed over to Benapole Port Thana police.
Confirming the matter Benapole Port Thana SI Matiar Rahman told banglanews, “The detainees were sent to the court in the evening.”
