DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said we have to establish the government of people to run the country well.
He came up with the observation while addressing meeting marking the 36th founding anniversary of Bangladesh People’s League held at the National Press Club on Friday afternoon.
The government is the follower of the ‘perpetrators’ of the post-independence massacres, he claimed.
The BNP spokesman said the government is pretending as they are the fan of democracy, liberty, sovereignty and free media but in fact they are oppressing the opponents.
The government recruited top positions by partisans in every sector including highly ordered BUET. Good governance has been hampered for their conspicuous recruitment of partisans in government jobs.
The government has failed to keep the prices of daily commodities steady and the situation of law and order is not tolerable as the international human rights organizations have expressed their deep concern in this regard.
The BNP leader also urged the World Bank to reveal the graft reports which keep everyone in dark.
He also called everyone to stage a full-scale movement to establish the right of food and ballot since the government has shut the doors and windows of democracy.
With Bangladesh People’s League chairman advocate Garib Newaz in the chair, NPP chairman Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu, LDP joint secretary general Dr Shahadat Hossain Selim, Labour Party Chairman Dr Mostafizur Rahman Iran, NDP chairman Khandaker Golam Mortuza, among others, addressed the meeting.
