BRAHMANBARIA: A half-day hartal called by local businessmen demanding the removal of UNO was observed in the district on Thursday.
The shutdown continued from 6am till 12pm.
The demonstrators took position on the streets that halted vehicle movements in the municipal bazar area.
Earlier on Wednesday, the businessmen announced a half-day shutdown to press demand the removal of UNO Muhammad Abul Hashem for beating up a businessman.
Meanwhile, the agitated businessmen gave 24-hours ultimatum to remove the UNO.
On the day, the UNO allegedly beat up some businessmen while conducting a mobile court in the district town. The court gave seven days imprisonment to four businessmen and some were fined TK 500 each.
