DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir categorically said the government would make a great mistake if it tries to hold the next election in a way other than caretaker government system.
He came up with the observation while talking to journalists at party’s central office in city’s Naya Paltan area Wednesday.
Ruling out the proposal of Prime Minister for forming an interim cabinet, he said, “Whatever Prime Minister says about interim government, the next election must be held under caretaker government system.”
Claiming Prime Minister’s speech over interim government as “vague”, he added: “The premier should make it clear that interim government would be formed with whom and how.”
The spokesperson for the opposition party also alleged that Sheikh Hasina is delivering such kind of speeches to misguide the people.
Regarding cases filed against opposition leaders and activists, the leader of the party said, “The government is filing those fake cases to hinder opposition leaders from participating in next election.”
