DHAKA: The government is set to reconstitute the International Crimes Tribunals (ICTs) soon following surprise resignation of the ICT-1 chairman Justice Nizamul Haque on Tuesday.
Incumbent ICT-2 chairman Justice ATM Fazle Kabir is being made as the ICT-1 chairman while the ICT-2 member Justice Obaidul Hasan as the ICT-2 chairman.
An official of the law, justice and parliamentary affairs ministry, wishing anonymity, made the disclosure to banglanews on Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 Justice Nizamul Haque has resigned as the chairman of the tribunal soon after published a news item over his Skype conversation.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews on Tuesday.
Nizamul Haque submitted his resignation letter to the law ministry through the registrar of the tribunal and law secretary Sheikh Mohammad Jahirul Haque received the letter.
Law secretary said, “The tribunal chairman has resigned on personal ground.”
On Sunday last, the Daily Amar Desh published a news item disclosing secret Skype conversation between Justice Nizamul Haque and Dr Ahmed Ziauddin living in abroad.
The Supreme Court Bar Association President Joynal Abedin on Monday demanded resignation of chairman of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Justice Nizamul Haque for the conversation.
