DHAKA: The students of eight colleges under the National University Monday brought out protest rally and formed human chain in front of the National Press Club in the city demanding the removal of session jam.
The students of the eight colleges who took part in the demonstration are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Tejgaon College, Titumir Govt College, Kabi Nazrul Govt College, Suhrawardi Govt College, Burhanuddin College, Mirpur Bangla College.
Students brought out the protest rally under the banner of ‘Sessionjot Nirashan Chhatra Parishad’ at around 11:30am to press their various demands.
The demands include permanent solution to session jam, publishing the results within three months after holding the exams, implementation of the academic calendar and providing four year course plan in the beginning of the academic session.
Agitated students claimed that session jam eats up three years of the students of the national university as they complete four years honors course in seven years that hampers to get government job.
They exceed the government job age limit before completing their honors and masters courses under the national university which threatens the lives of lakhs of students, the students claimed.
The session jam is increasing day by day due to the callousness of the university, administrative and academic mismanagement, and lack of internal coordination of the university, the students raised the allegations.
Under the circumstances, the students have become bound to come to the streets to realize their demands, they said.
They warned saying: “We will continue our movement until our demands are met.”
