DHAKA: Shakib Al Hasan amused the Indian Premier League (IPL) and conquered the title along with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which gradually led his popularity towards international arena from the home periphery.
The world-top cricketer expressed his feelings while talking to banglanews in an exclusive interview over cell-phone regarding his IPL endeavor and playing at Kolkata.
Question (Q): How did you celebrate the winning night?
SHAKIB: Everybody has enjoyed in their own way, especially the foreign and Indian cricketers have surpassed the night amid lavish ecstasy and joy. I prefer to stay away from some events but I have rejoiced in my own manner.
Q: How did you sense while you were raised above head?
SHAKIB: I have not done anything special but I tried to fulfill my job. After the match they lifted me up as I was in front of them but I enjoyed the matter whatever the reason was.
Q: You said nobody would sleep tonight and Shah Rukh is going to be mad. How did you observe his gala?
SHAKIB: Certainly, he was very happy. He must be happier than others as he is the owner and his team has won the title after five years. In fact, he enjoyed a lot.
Q: Did Shah Rukh congratulate you?
SHAKIB: He appraises all players equally. He evaluates equally the players, performers and those who have not got the chance to be in the squad. He thanked all of us for the triumph.
Q: Did you feel any regret for the matches you were not in the squad even after the title ship?
SHAKIB: I naturally feel regret for the matches I have not played. But it’s a great honor for me to be a part of a champion team. I have tried my best in those matches I have got the chance to play.
Q: You got lots of fans in Kolkata. How do you feel about your growing followers outside Bangladesh?
SHAKIB: Well, a plenty of supporters have been generated in Kolkata. From the beginning while I was not playing, I heard that they had demanded to add me in the best eleven. A lot of phone calls I have received while I returned Kolkata. Followers congratulated me as the way they could. Many journalists have come for interview. I have faced them. Still my phone is ringing. The people of Pashchimbanga like me a lot. I feel proud as a Bangladeshi cricketer.
Q: Sure you have received greetings from family and friends!
SHAKIB: I usually do not communicate with my family with these types of stuff. They turned informed by television and newspapers. Somebody informed them over phone. And my countrymen do not know my cell number even a few of my close ones. I think they might congratulate me after my return.
Q: You are a successful cricketer in Bangladesh as you have achieved numerous landmarks in your career. You have finished your second IPL with the trophy. Do you consider yourself as the blessed one?
SHAKIB: Anything requires luck for human. The IPL trophy is another milestone for me. We have to play lots of matches in near future and committed to play well. The most exiting thing is playing for the country.
Q: Your two year deal with KKR has just ended. Did you hear anything from the KKR?
SHAKIB: They have not said anything yet. It can be happened later. Besides the IPL auction draws every year.
