JHENIDAH: The local administration of Sadar upazila imposed section 144 in Ganna union Chandipur Bishnupad High school premises in the district on Thursday.
The ban was imposed as the ruling Awami League and opposition BNP called a meeting at the same venue at the same time.
The ban will be continued from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Thursday.
Confirming the matter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Jhenidah Sadar Kalachand Singha told banglanews, “Union-level BNP called a meeting in the school premises demanding release of BNP acting secretary general Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.”
On the other hand, the local Awami League called a meeting at the same place demanding execution of the war criminals at the same time.
To avert further untoward situation the ban was imposed in the area, the UNO added.
Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Jhenidah Sadar Thana Sonit Kumar told banglanews that to avert further untoward situation and for safety of people the ban was imposed.
