DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate a 13-day national theatre festival presenting the plays on Bangladesh’s war of independence.
She will inaugurate the festival at 4:00pm on July 2 at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segun Bagicha.
State minister for cultural affairs Advocate Pramod Mankin and secretary of the ministry Suraiya Begum will attend the inaugural session to be chaired by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) president Ramendu Majumdar.
To be jointly organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, the festival will feature selected plays from different parts of the country.
According to the organisers, it will also feature recitations, jatrapala, dance, mime, musical presentations and other cultural programmes.
The plays will be staged everyday at 6:00pm, 7:00pm and 8:00pm at the halls of the academy till July 14.
