DHAKA: Exporters’ Association of Bangladesh (EAB) urged the government to reduce tax at source in RMG sector considering the fragile infrastructure of the country.
President of EAB Abdus Salam Morshedi came up with the urge in a press conference titled ‘Reaction on Budget for FY 2012-13’ held at a city’s hotel Sunday.
Salam Morshedi said, “The proposed tax (1.20%) at source would be a new challenge for the RMG sector as currently we are facing recession in the markets of Europe and America.”
In this regard, it is needed to continue the current tax rate considering the weak infrastructure of the country, he added.
He also demanded undisrupted supply of power and gas to ensure RMG production.
During the press conference representatives EAB were present.
