BRAHMANBARIA: At least 20 people were injured as a garment factory workers locked into a clash with police during their protest programme demanding salary and allowance in Ashuganj upazila of the district on Sunday noon.
Sources said some garment workers of Azmat Group vandalized the factory while police tried to obstruct them.
Later, the garment workers locked into a clash with police that left 20 people injured.
Police opened fire teargas shells, rubber bullets and charged batons for bringing the situation under control and dispersing the agitated workers.
The authorities of the garment factory declared the factory closed to avert untoward situation as the agitated workers were throwing brickbats aiming the police in the area.
The workers claimed that it was scheduled to pay their salaries in the day but the owner of the factory failed to pay. So, they vandalized the factory.
