DHAKA: Six police officials of Detective branch including two inspectors were withdrawn for their alleged involvement in harassing drug traders of Mitford retail drug market that ensue a clash.
Besides, a probe body led-by a deputy police commissioner was formed to probe into the incident on Monday noon. The committee was asked to submit report within three working days.
DMP public relation department deputy police commissioner Masudur Rahman told banglanews, “Without permission by higher authorities, DB police team-5 led-by Inspector Fazlur Rahman harassed drug traders in the name of raid. In protest, traders locked into clash with the DB police team.
Later Lalabag zone deputy police commissioner Harun-or-Rashid’s intervention brought the situation under control.
Regarding the issue, Banglanews tried to contact with Metropolitan DB police (South Zone) deputy police Commissioner Monirul Islam over phone but he did not received the calls.
