DHAKA: Hamid Ansari on Tuesday has been elected as Indian Vice President.
Hamid bagged 490 against a required 377 votes to win the post for the second term, India`s NDTV reported. His nearest rival BJP`s Jaswant Sing got 238 votes.
Ansari was supported by lawmakers of the Congress-led coalition.
The retired diplomat first became vice-president in 2007.
Former Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was elected as Indian President in July last.
