DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank singed a deal with 21 commercial banks and 18 financial institutions to provide them loan from the Tk 415 crore donated by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Managing Director BB SME Division Sukomal Singh of Bangladesh Bank and Chief Executive Officers of the banks signed the deal for their respective sides.
The deal signing function was held at at Bangladesh Bank Conference Hall Monday.
The banks will be able to invest in SME by paying five percent interest to the central bank with a minimum period of two years to maximum eight years.
Addressing the function, BB Governor Dr Atiur Rahman said the loan has to be used in accelerating SME by giving it to the deserved person and not by harassing anyone.
He said, “The government has to spend keeping in mind that the income and this practice has to be maintained in our family lives too.”
Amongst the others, Chief Representative of JICA Takao Toda and Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Abul Kashem were also present in the function.
