DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank governor Dr. Atiur Rahman suggested the government to make the upcoming expenditure plan on the basis of income.
He said, “The government has to make its expenditure plans after calculating the possible revenue collection and foreign aids. Otherwise, the banking sector and country’s economy will face high risks.”
He came up with the advice while attending a reception programme at a city hotel on Saturday.
Bangladesh Associations of Banks (BAB) organized the reception to congratulate the BB governor for getting the Indira Gandhi Gold Plaque.
While expressing his hope, Dr. Atiur said, “Although it is being reported that the growth will be 6.3 percent, I hope it will rise to 6.5 percent by end of the year.”
Addressing bankers, he said, “You have to run your banks with good governance and protect people’s money. Try to obey and trust your directors.”
Meanwhile, he said that the country will be move ahead by using the banking capital in the productive sectors.
Among others, chairmen of different banks, leading businessmen, bank directors and chief executives were present in the programme with BAB president Nazrul Islam in the chair.
