DHAKA: ‘Nabanna Utsab’ or the celebration of the traditional harvest festival will be held at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka on November 15 that falls on the first day of Agrahaya of Bangla calendar.
Jatiya Nabanna Ustab Udjapan Parshad will organise the daylong festival as in the previous years at 7:00 in the morning with the tune of traditional flute.
First part of the festival will continue till 11:00am while the second part will begin at 3:00pm. It will continue till 9:00pm.
A good number of cultural organisations will take part in the festival presenting dance, music, recitation and instrumentals.
The traditional activities of country’s several ethnic groups will also be upheld at the programme.
Former chief justice and also former chief adviser of caretaker government Muhammad Habibur Rahman will inaugurate the festival.
The organisers informed media Sunday at a press conference in city.
Among others, Jatiya Nabanna Utsab Udjapan Parshad’s convenor Shahriar Salam, organisation’s chairman Laila Hasan, co-chairman Hasina Mamtaj and members Babul Biswas, Manzar Chowdhury and Jasimuddin Majumdar were present at the conference.
Demanding Nabanna day as a national holiday, the organisers hoped that the programmes would help the urban people to enjoy their centuries-old traditional festival in city.
They also demanded to ensure the rights of farmers in this agrarian society.
