DHAKA: The activists of Biman Bachao Oikya Parishad (BBOP) have assaulted the secretary of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Balaka Bhaban in the city Thursday.
They also gave ultimatum to remove current board within June 5 otherwise they would declare tougher programme.
A Biman source said few days ago civil aviation ministry sent a letter to Biman managing director for his consent on a news report headed ‘Corruption in Biman: Tk 1,000 crore looted in 3 Years’.
In a response letter, Biman secretary Fazlur Rahman wrote that along with the board of directors Biman officials and staffers are also involved n this corruption.
Hearing this, BBOP leaders assaulted Fazlur Rahman.
BBOP convener Mashiqur Rahman told banglanews, “Fazlur blamed Biman officials and staffers in support of board of directors.”
He alleged that Biman directors have continued corruption and BBOP should not sit silently more and it has no alternative of movements.
On June 5, new programme would be announced if the government does not break present board of directors, he added.
