PM criticizes vested quarter

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday said a vested quarter always tell the condition of the country is not good but they cannot find out the reasons behind it.

The premier, also ruling Awami League president, made the allegation while addressing a view exchange meeting with the grass-root level leaders of Kurigram district Awami League at her official residence Gano Bhaban in the city.

Indicating BNP, she said, “We are doing various development works for the villagers but they do not tolerate it.”

During BNP regime, the world people regarded Bangladesh as terrorist country as bombs were exploded at 63 districts at a time, she said adding Awami League has placed Bangladesh to the world as model of development.

The premier claimed that the press of the country is enjoying freedom now but it was not possible during BNP government.

She added: “By amending the Constitution we have ensured people’s right so that no undemocratic power can capture the power of people.”

All AL presidium members, executive members, Kurigram Zila Awami League executive members, presidents and general secretaries of all upazilas, thanas, municipals, unions, party-backed all upazila chairmen, vice-chairmen, presidents and general secretaries of all associate organizations of the party attended the meeting.
