DHAKA : Biman Bangladesh Airlines sought Tk 500 cr as urgent assistance to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina aiming to face the financial crisis.

A high-up official of Biman explained the overall situation of the organization to Prime Minister during an informal meeting held in Gono Bhaban.

Earlier on April 20, Biman, through Finance Ministry Secretary Mohammad Tarek, sought Tk 1,000 crore as assistance from government.

The authorities demanded the money to run the organization as it was in loss for last three consecutive years and in debt of around Tk 2000 crore.

According Biman source, if Biman doesn’t get the money, it will face many difficulties even to pay the salaries of its employees.

Earlier, aviation minister sought accountability from Biman for its loss, but the authorities couldn’t explain.
