DHAKA: The focus groups meetings of the ongoing Bangladesh- United States of America Partnership Dialogue were held Wednesday at the US State Department.
The meetings were held on different issues including development and governance, trade and investment and security cooperation.
Later, both sides will hold plenary level talks on Thursday.
Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Ms. Wendy Sherman will lead the respective sides.
Robert O. Blake Jr. and Andrew Shapiro, Assistant Secretary of State, respectively of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs and Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Melanne Verveer, Ambassador-at-Large for Women’s Issues, Ambassador Michael Kozak, Senior Advisor of the Bureau of Democracy, Rights and Labor, Mara Burr, Deputy Assistant US Trade Representative, Geoffrey R. Pyatt and Dr. Alyssa Ayres respectively Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs attended focused group meetings.
The senior officials discussed the current state of Bangladesh-US relations and prospective sectors of further cooperation.
