5 fishermen found dead in Hatia

NOAKHALI: Five fishermen were found dead in Meghna River at Hatia of the district on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as Jewel, 17, Mojnu, 20, Akhter, 20, Belal, 32 and Rubel, 16. They all are residents of Killar Bazar Haat under Hatia upazila.

Sources said a goods-laden ship knocked the trawler carrying seven fishermen early Thursday, leaving five dead and two missing.

Later, one of the missing was found unconscious while another remained untraced till filing this report.
