DHAKA: BNP standing Committee member MK Anwar Tuesday predicted that the present government would not get even 10 constituencies in the next parliamentary election.
“People became agitated against the government. BNP will stand beside them. The autocrat must be ousted. It will be difficult for the ruling party to secure 10 parliament seats in the next election,” the senior BNP leader added.
He came up with the prediction while addressing a human chain held at the National Press Club premises at noon.
The human chain was organized by Swadhinata Forum for protesting the hindrance by government on the way to 18-party rally and demanding release of alliance leaders and activists.
Quoting a recent investigation report, he said, the report predicts that AL may loose 100 parliament seats in next election.
Anwar also discarded the AL leaders’ claim ‘BNP had retreated from the movement’.
“15 lakh people gathered in the June 11 rally amid many obstacles”, he informed.
“The country turned into Jungle. Law and order deteriorated. It seems like we are living in Syria or Libya as murder, abduction and journalist repression are now become common phenomena of the country”, he commented.
He also said, the economy is collapsing and nation got no instruction in the budget.
He demanded for immediate restoration of caretaker government system and release of the detained leaders.
With the forum president Abu Naser Md Rahmat Ullah in the chair, BNP`s joint Information and Research secretary Habibur Rahman Habib, Zia Nagarik Forum President Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Khaleda Yeasmin and others also addressed the chain.
