4 get renewed 2G licenses

DHAKA: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regularity Commission (BTRC) renewed the 2G licenses for Grameen Phone, Banglalink, Robi and Citycell.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju handed over the licenses to the operators at BTRC office Tuesday.

Of the six mobile operators, the 2G licenses validity of the four mobile operators expired on November 2011. The renewal process was delayed due to a number of court battles between BTRC, operators and National Board of Revenue (NBR).
