DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the beleaguered people of Dahgram-Angarpota enclave from now on will be able to use Tin Bigha corridor twenty-four hours.
She came up with the message in a press briefing after a landmark meeting with her Indian counterpart Dr Manmohan Singh at the PM office here on Tuesday evening.
The PM said, “From now on, our people in Dahgram and Angarpota will have 24-hour unfettered movement through Tin Bigha corridor.”
She also declared that ‘a Framework Agreement on Cooperation and Development’ was signed between India and Bangladesh after the day’s summit talks led by the two premiers.
She termed the agreement, in her written speech at the briefing, ‘a visionary document that looks at not only the realities today but also the potential of tomorrow’.
Sheikh Hasina said, “I am happy to say that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced during our discussion today that India would allow duty-free access of 46 items from Bangladesh to the Indian market that were on the sensitive list of India.”
She informed that during the meeting, a number of MoUs and protocols were also signed on cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh also spoke to the press at the joint briefing after Sheikh Hasina.
