DHAKA: Television and Film Studies Department of Dhaka University was launched on Monday
The programme was held at 10:00am at Senate Bhaban of the university.
Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain attended the programme as the chief guest while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique chaired the function.
Professor Janet Wasko, President of International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), delivered the keynote speech in the programme.
US Ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena also spoke in the inaugural ceremony.
Earlier, the University of Dhaka has invited applications for admission to the first batch of Master of Television and Film Studies for the academic session 2012-13.
A total of 30 students will get chance to admit into the department, university sources said.
Canadian commonwealth scholar Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Chairperson of the Department, told banglanews that the department has created a great enthusiasm among the students after establishing it.
