DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed apprehension that the government might not take any action against persons involved in Padma Bridge corruption.

The senior leader of the party came up with the observation while talking to journalists before placing wreaths at the grave of former President Ziaur Rahman in the city Sunday.

He said, “Awami League government wants to construct the bridge with own fund while economists said it would create pressure on people of the country.”

The spokesperson for the former ruling party said with people’s support, BNP had become a tested party for the country’s development.
