DHAKA: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, national flag carrier of the country, is going to introduce Automated Revenue Management System (ARMS) soon to boost up revenue.
Managing Director and CEO the Biman Bangladesh Airlines Zakiul Islam told banglanews that Automated Revenue Management System (ARMS) would be launched in the airlines within two years.
Biman sources said International Air Transport Association (IATA) would assist Biman to set up this system. Now few members of Biman are engaged in training while IATA is working as consultant.
Most of the reputed airlines of the world have already introduced Automated Revenue Management System many years ago.
Though GMG one of the leading private airlines of the country, launched this system but it is not functioning properly.
The primary aim of Revenue Management is to sell the right product to the right customer at the right time for the right price.
An official of the airlines said Biman is maintaining manual system to sell ticket which is time consuming as well as costly.
He added: “Under manual revenue management system most of the time high officials of Biman has to engage time to time directions.”
If any passenger buys a ticket one month ago, it will be low price than one week ago. Sometimes most of the seat of aircraft might be vacant that time high price of ticket will not be applicable, sources added.
After introducing Automated Revenue Management System, no one has to engage himself every time to think about ticket pricing.
Wishing anonymity, a marketing officer of Biman told banglanews that this system should have to be introduced at least 10 years ago.
If the Biman could take right decision at the right time it could change overall financial scenario of the airlines.
Last year Biman introduced online booking system, which was able to prevent cheat in ticket selling trough dishonest agent.
Zakiul said said, “After introducing online booking, we have stopped cheating. Biman will be benefited after introducing Automated Revenue Management system.”
