NOAKHALI: At least 35 people, including police and students were injured in a triangular clash among Chhatra League, Chhtra Dal and police personnel following class-XI admission in Chaumuhani Govt SA College Thursday.
Sun-Inspector of Begumganj Model Thana Kamal Krishna told banglanews that supporters of College Chhatra League convener Mirza and Chhatra Dal convener Khorshed Alam locked into a clash following altercation with admission issue.
On information, police rushed in and tried to bring the situation under control. At one stage, students locked into clash with police, leaving 29 students and 6 police men injured.
Police fired 31 rounds of rubber bullets and five tear shells during the clash.
The injured were admitted to Noakhali Medical College Hospital and other private clinics in the town while the injured police admitted to Police Line Hospital.
Additional police were deployed on the campus, SI added.
Chaumuhani Govt SA College Principal Sharif Ullah Bhuiyan told banglanews, “The admission business allegation is not true as a group of youth tried to thwart the admission process to secure their interests.”
