DHAKA: Ruling Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta MP Monday categorically said the party would not accept the trap of undemocratic caretaker government.
“The Awami League will not accept the trap of caretaker government. The incumbent election commission is very powerful and the fair election is possible through the election commission,” he said.
The senior leader of the party came up with the assertion while addressing a seminar organized by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at Central Public Library in the city.
Indicating opposition leader Khaleda Zia, he said, “Set up your mind to join parliament from the today’s mass rally. It is not disgrace for you to come back. It is your rights.”
The ruling Awami League lawmaker also observed that there is a different opinion in the democracy. “But, we have to go to parliament to solve the problem,” he said.
President of the organization Fazlul Karim in the chair, the seminar was also addressed, among others, by World University Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Mannan Chowdhury and Dhaka City Organizing Secretary Shah Alam Murad.
