DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman Thursday said the money scandals of some banks fall negative effect on banking sector.
He came up with the observation during a view exchange meeting with Association of Bankers` Bangladesh (ABB) in the morning.
He thinks that it is also a negligence and violation of loan sanction policy system.
“Bangladesh Bank will take tougher action if the board and management authority of the banks don’t take necessary measures to prevent financial embezzlement, and related activities,” he said.
He also urged the bankers to strengthen bank’s discipline, internal monitoring and controlling structure.
“Bangladesh Bank is going to form a special party to monitor embezzlement and corruption,” he added.
Atiur Rahman said, “Bangladesh Bank is ready to give all sort of assistance to the banks. But, the bankers should have to be alert about the financial misappropriation.”
