DHAKA: Speakers at a programme on Friday urged the people to ensure safe blood transfusion to keep sound health.
The urge was made at the third council of Bangladesh Blood Transfusion Society at Shaheed Milon Hall at capital’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
Addressing the programme as chief guest, State Minister for Health Dr Mujibur Rahman Fakir said, “One’s blood is another’s life.”
“The government is trying best for safe transfusion of blood in human body”, the minister said adding that, “Steps have been taken against the illegal blood banks in the city.”
He, however, stressed need for strict monitoring in this connection.
The state minister also warned the people not to receive blood of any addicted person to avert any unwanted diseases.
The programme was also addressed, among others, by Professor Dr Khandaker Mohammad Sefaietullah, director general of department of Directorate general of Health Services and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mahmud Hasan.
