DHAKA: The High Court Thursday asked authorities concerned to take necessary steps for holding polls of Vice-Chancellor panel of Jahangirnagar University.
Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police and Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Thana were asked to take the necessary steps.
An HC bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the directives in response to a writ petition of Dr Abul Khayer, a senate member of the university.
The vice-chancellor (VC) panel poll is scheduled to be held on Friday.
Dr Shahdin Malik stood for writ petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman moved for the state.
Education Secretary, JU Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and others concerned were made accused to the writ petition.
