BTRC invites application

DHAKA: The telecom regulator-Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has invited applications for much talked about VoIP license.

The final VoIP guideline and license application notice has been posted on its website on Sunday.

The license will be issued under the name of ‘VoIP service Provider (VSP)’, sources said.

The decision of inviting application has been taken to encourage the local entrepreneurs invest more in the country’s telecommunication sector, said officials.

The guideline, however, did not mention how many licenses would be provided for this telecom business.

The BTRC would scrutinize the applications while the ministry would take the final decision, sources added.
