GOPALGANJ: A fish trader was killed and 12 others were injured as a minnow-laden truck crushed into a roadside tree and turned turtle on Gopalganj-Tekerhat road in Kangsur area under Sadar upazila early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as MD Nur Islam, 50, of Alexander area in Laxmipur district.
Baultoli Police Investigation Center’s SI Abdus Salam said, “A Bagerhat-bound minnow laden truck crushed into a roadside tree and turned turtle on the road at about 6am as it’s driver fell asleep while driving, killing one on the spot and injuring the others.”
The injured were rushed to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital.
Later, they were shifted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital, Khulna Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
