Stocks end lower for day-4

DHAKA: Investors saw major fall in the benchmark indices of country’s bourses on Sunday for the fourth straight trading day.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index shed over 82 points to stand at 4,715 at the close on the first trading day of the week.

The volume of transactions, however, increased slightly to Tk 1,729 million from Thursday’s Tk 1,728 million. Trade deals stood at 54,098 against the previous day’s 54,462.

Of the issues traded, 29 advanced, 219 declined and 8 remained unchanged.

LAFSURCEML topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 184 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were GP, LANKABAFIN, JAMUNAOIL, BEXIMCO, NBL, MPETROLEUM, SUMITPOWER, MICEMENT and FAREASTLIF.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8,963 by dropping over 161 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 16 gained, 153 declined and 6 remained unchanged.

On Thursday, the benchmark indices of DSE and CSE shed 22 and 30 points respectively.
