DHAKA: Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni Saturday opined that the relationships of Bangladesh with the other countries are not now dependant on the foreign aid rather it is commercial relation.
“Bangladesh is being compelled to depend on such foreign aid, which is the consequences of greed and extra-consumption of the foreign country,” she said.
The foreign minister came up the observation while addressing a seminar on ‘Four Decade of Independence: Bangladesh and World’ held at Jagannath University.
Bangladesh History Association and History Department of the University jointly organized the day-long seminar.
The ruling Awami League lawmaker said, “Entire climate and environment are destroyed for different activities of developed countries.”
She added: “On the other hand, least developed countries are the victim of the destruction. So, there is no disgrace to take foreign aid and donations to overcome the worst situation of the country.”
Regarding foreign relation of Bangladesh and its achievements, she said the role of Bangladesh in keeping world peace is appraisable along with foreign relations of the country in energy, power and technology.
With Bangladesh History Association acting president Professor Dr Enamul Haque Khan in the chair, the seminar was also addressed, among others, by University Grant Commission Chairman Dr AK Azad Chowdhury and JU VC Professor Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed.
