DHAKA: The Senior lawyers of the Supreme Court have sought harmony between the High Court and Jatiya Sangsad as both are essential for the country.

According to them, this unexpected conflict between these two organizations is alarming for the country.

Seeking mutual amity, honor, endurance and harmony, the lawyers also wanted an end of consent of the court and hot talking in the parliament.

Dr Kamal Hossain said, “We want constitutional reign and the parliament is main pillar of constitution. So, the parliament members should not talk in a way that confuses the people who elected them.”

We want mutual respects between associating organizations and hope the judiciary and law makers will work together for democracy after meeting current conflict, he added.

President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Joynul Abedin said, “Every citizen can complain to authorities concerned if he/she is perturbed by anyone’s behave and parliament drew the attention of the Chief Justice, so we have jurisdiction to comment on this.”

But, our justices should talk constitutionally and behave as judge so that people can’t have any negative attitude on us, he added.

On June 5, the High Court said recent comment of Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate about judiciary is ‘tantamount to sedition’.

Speaker should face sedition charge as he urged people to stand against judiciary, the HC elaborated.

An HC bench comprising of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Justice Jahangir Hossain came up with the observation while hearing a writ petition on handing over the land of the Supreme Court.

The court also questioned about the speaker’s certificate as Bar member for his derogative remark.

Besides, the court also wanted to know whether he could use the title ‘advocate’ with his name as there is a temporary stay on his lawyer certificate.

On the same day members of Jatiya Sangsad sharply criticized the High Court for its remarks on the Speaker on point of order.

Workers’ Party of Bangladesh president raised the issue and read out news published on banglanews24.com.

Members of parliament demanded to get back the power of impeachment of the judges which was taken away from parliament.

They also demanded termination of job of the justice concerned for criticizing Speaker.
