London: Sun Yang continued to steer the 1,500 metres freestyle into uncharted territory as he lowered his own world record to clinch his second gold medal in London.
The Chinese swimmer had broken Grant Hackett`s long-standing world mark at last year`s World Championships in Shanghai.
The 20-year-old led from start to finish as he touched in 14 minutes 31.02 seconds, taking more than three seconds off his own mark, prompting an emotional celebration.
Canada`s Ryan Cochrane was second ahead of defending champion Oussama Mellouli.
Fogg was never in contention for a medal and touched in 15mins 00.76secs, more than four seconds slower than his time in qualifying.
