KURIGRAM: Some seven Bangladeshis including lawmaker, deputy commissioner and journalist were released minutes after they were detained by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Kurigram frontier lines during relief distribution among the flood-hit people.
The BSF members of Masalabari Camp of India detained Md Zafar Ali MP, Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram Habibur Rahman, BTV photo journalist Nazmul Hossain and four others at 1:30 pm at Narayanpur frontier area of the district.
They came under arrest while a speedboat carrying 7-member relief team entered into Indian Territory while distributing relief among the flood victims of the area.
Kurigram BGB Battalion acting commander Major Iqbal confirmed this to banglanews.
Later, BSF personnel released them at 2:15 pm coming to know their identities, he added.
