DHAKA: Four students of National Polytechnic Institute were injured as some local miscreants attacked them in the city’s Farmgate area Wednesday.
The students are Mithun, Ranjan, Shamim and Mamun, sixth semester students of Architecture and Interior Design Department of the institute.
Faruk Ahmed, a student of the institute, said Mithun and Ranjan were admitted to Al Razi Hospital at Farmgate while others were given primary treatment.
Sources said the miscreants attacked the students with lethal weapons, including chopper, knives and hockey sticks, leaving them injured on the spot.
The miscreants were identified as the locals of Tejgaon area and they were addicted during the attack of the students, students said.
After visiting the injured students in the hospital, Architecture and Interior Design Department Chairperson Marzan Islam said, “We don’t know the reasons behind the attack.”
She, however, added that “we would take legal action against the criminals”.
Duty Officer of Tejgaon Thana Sub-Inspector Jahangir told banglanews, “We didn’t yet receive any complaint but we are investigating the matter.”
