DHAKA: BNP chairperson and also opposition leader Khaleda Zia started distributing foods among the destitute at different parts of the city on Saturday as part of its four-day programme, marking the 31st death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP.
She started distributing foods from Batlata area of Azimpur under Lalbagh thana in the city at 12:15 in the morning. The BNP leader is distributing foods in 10 settled and five unsettled others locations in the city.
Local BNP leaders including it’s vice chairman Selima Rahman, it’s City uit member secretary Abdus Salam were present during the food distribution.
Besides, supporters of Pintu and Azam groups of BNP locked into a scuffle over taking leadership in distributing foods at Azimpur Batlata in Lalbag area.
Khaleda also distributed foods among the destitute at different parts of the city in the last three days.
Dhaka city unit BNP has organized the programme on the occasion of death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman.
President Ziaur Rahman was born on January 19, 1936 at Bagbari under Gabtoli upazila in Bogra.
Zia was assassinated on May 30, in 1981 by a group of disgruntled army officers at Chittagong Circuit House.
