DHAKA: A Dhaka Court Monday issued arrest warrant against eight officials, including the chairman of Organization for Children Care and Development (ORCHID), an organization for disabled, in a cheating case.
The accused are ORCHID chairman Umme Kulsum Koli, vice chairman Kazi Zia Shams, secretary general Zia-un-Nahar, Nusrat Zahan, treasurer Rowshan Ara Majumder, member Johora Begum, Rezaul Hossain and Baby Tabassum.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman passed the order as the accused did not appear before the court despite of getting summons.
On April 10 in 2011, the court asked the accused to appear before it in response to a complaint filed by one Shaker Hossain, father of a disabled child.
The case statement stated that despite of getting Tk 100,000 the accused demanded Tk 1.5 lakh more from Shaker Hossain for admitting his son in the organization.
