DHAKA: On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the British Prime Minister David Cameron in a message wished all on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims:
He said, “Eid is a time for families and friends, a time of joy and happiness.”
As families and friends come together in celebration, I want to recognise the immense contribution that British Muslims make to our country, he added.
He added: “And I want to say a particular thank you to those Muslims who have helped to make the London Olympics so successful. From those, who volunteered and gave visitors such a warm welcome to our country.”
To members of our armed forces who have helped to keep us safe. To our medal winners who have won a place in our nation’s heart, he added.
The prime minister said, “Peace and unity are the spirit of Eid and I am proud of the way Britain has demonstrated these values to the world during the Olympics.”
So, to Muslims around the world on this very important day of celebration, I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Eid, he said.
