8 more infected with anthrax in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ: A team of the district health department has diagnosed another eight anthrax patients in Ultadab and Bara Bachra village under Porjona union of Shahjadpur upazila in the district on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The infected are Rabeya Khatun, Jelly Begum, Papya Begum,  Moina Begum, Selina Begum, of Ultadap village and Majed Ali,  Moazzem Hossain and Halima of Bara Bachra village.

The number of total infected patients in the district reached to 69 so far in last one month.

Sirajganj Civil Surgeon Dr Nazimuddin Khan told banglanews, the patients who slaughtered sick goat and ate its meat were infected with the disease in Ultadab village on June 6.

He also said there is nothing to be worried about the diseases as two teams are working in the area. They are serving medicine free of cost.
