DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Thursday categorically said the government would face serious difficulties over the issue of missing party leader Ilias Ali.
“Serious trouble is waiting for the government on the Ilias Ali missing issue as they are not trying to rescue the BNP leader. The government agencies also are not making any response,” he said.
The senior leader of the party came up with the observation while talking to journalists at Ilias Ali’s Banani residence after handing over Eid gift to his family members.
The spokesperson for the party also said, “Disappearance is a very atrocious crime in a democratic country. As per UN convention, it is a crime against humanity.”
Fakhrul claimed that a total of 135 political leaders were disappeared during the tenure of the incumbent government.
He also alleged that the people who taking stance against government are being disappeared.
Earlier, Fakhrul arrived at Sylhet house around 12:35pm. Ex-Jubo Dal vice-president Kaiyum Chowdhury and Krishak Dal joint-secretary Jamal Uddin Khan Milon accompanied him.
