COMILLA: A Chhatra League leader of Comilla Polytechnic Institute, Coatbari was shot dead and other three injured in a clash between two fractions of the front organization of the ruling Awami League on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Ahmed, joint general secretary of the Chhatra League of the organization.
The critically injured were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Inspector of Comilla Sadar Thana Jasim Uddin told banglanews that additional police forces were deployed on the campus to bring the situation under control.
In the clash, the students of the organization became panicked and they took safe shelters apprehending further clash.
Campus sources said the clash took place between the supporters of Rintu and Mithu groups at around 10:30pm and Sohel was a supporter of Mithu group.
Besides, a number of police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel were deployed in the medical college.
