NARSINGDI: Charge-sheet in the Mayor Lokman Hossain murder case was submitted to the Chief Judicial Magistrate`s Court Saturday evening, 8 months into the killing of the district mayor.
Narsingdi CID Investigation Officer Mamunur Rahid Mandal submitted the charge-sheet against twelve people.
The charge-sheeted accused are Nazmul Hasan Sharif alias killer Sharif, Hajee Mohammad Selim Miah, Md Aulad Hossain, Md Sarwar Hossain, Md Ashraf Hossain Sarkar akias Ashraful Sarkar, Abdul Matin Sarkar, Mahfuz Hossan alias Tauwab alias Subuj, Hajee Mohammad Faruk Hossain, Md Shahin, fugitive accused Mubarak Hossain Muba, Isu Sarkar alias Shibli Sarkar and Hiru alias Kamrul Hasan.
On November 2 of the last year, mayor of Narsingdi municipality Lokman Hossain succumbed to his injuries at DMCH, about three hours after an unidentified assailant shot him at the town’s Awami League office on Sadar Road.
Forty-three-year-old Lokman was also the general secretary of AL, Narsingdi district unit.
Md Quamruzzaman, younger brother of Mayor Lokman Hossain, filed a murder case with Narsingdi sadar model police station, accusing 14 people after two days of murder.
On investigation, CID Investigation Officer of Narsingdi Mamunur Rashid Mandal submitted the charge-sheet accusing the aforesaid twelve.
Names of 11 accused including the prime accused Salauddin Ahmed Bacchu, younger brother of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju were dropped from the charge-sheet, the CID officer informed.
“I am not agree with the charge sheet and I am requesting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to form new investigation committee on Lokman murder case,” said Md Quamruzzaman, younger brother of Mayor Lokman Hossain and also newly elected mayor.
