DHAKA: Robert Gibson, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Thursday invited Mijarul Quayes, the newly appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom to his residence to congratulate him on his new position.
Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes is set to leave Dhaka for London on December 2 to assume his new responsibilities. He has been Foreign Secretary since July 2009.
During the meeting Robert Gibson congratulated Quayes wholeheartedly and wished him a successful assignment, commenting, “Britain’s forty year relationship with Bangladesh has never been stronger”.
People-to-people links lie at the heart of this and I look forward to working together and continuing the constructive relationship we have built up over the last few years, he added.
Robert Gibson also noted that the Bangladesh High Commission in London has an important role in supporting the diverse interests of Bangladeshi and Bangladeshi origin people, and helping them to build close ties between the two countries.
