Hartal in Phulbari Saturday

DINAJPUR: The National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports called dawn-to-dusk hartal for Saturday in Phulbari as local administration imposed Section 144 to impede committees’ Friday programme.

Member secretary of the committee Anu Muhammad made the announcement on Friday afternoon.

Anu Muhammad said, “Hartal has been called in protest against imposing section 144 to stop committees’ programme and we will announce more protest programme nationwide if necessary.”

Earlier, the committee called a meeting protesting the government’s recent move for creating environment for Asia Energy for starting open pit mining.

Earlier in the day, the local administration imposed Section 144 in Phulbari upazila of the district as the Committee convened programmes on Friday.
